Creation

Start the Creation Process

  • Log in to the platform.
  • Click the Create button.
  • A Create Mentor screen opens and defaults to the Settings tab.

Fill Out the Settings Tab

  • Profile Image – upload a picture that represents the mentor.
  • Mentor Name – e.g., “Bio AI”.
  • Description – short phrase such as “Biology tutor that assists learners with their Intro to Biology course.”
  • Category – choose something relevant (biology, science, learning, etc.).

Mentor Visibility

  • Administrators → only instructors see and use the mentor (useful for assessment‐creation, admissions guidance, data tasks).

  • Students → everyone in the organization can access the mentor (general tutoring, informational help, and more).

  • Base Model – pick either the default OpenAI base or Gemini.


Define Prompts

  • Open the Prompts section.
  • System Prompt – outline the mentor’s personality and purpose (e.g., a Socratic biology tutor).
  • Proactive Message – the greeting shown before the learner’s first message.
  • Guided Prompts – AI-suggested starter questions to help learners begin or continue a chat.

Configure Additional Settings

  • LLM Selection – choose which large language model powers the mentor.
  • Tools – toggle features like Web Search so learners can pull web results without leaving the chat.

Safety

  • Set guidelines for inappropriate questions.
  • Specify the exact response the mentor should give when those guidelines are triggered.

Review the History Tab

  • Shows every conversation the mentor has had.
  • Lets you export chats, view sentiment, and filter by date, topic, or category.

Upload Knowledge in Datasets

  • Add files, URLs, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive items.
  • These uploads form the mentor’s knowledge base.

Embed the Mentor Elsewhere

  • Go to the Embed tab.
  • Choose Default or Advanced view.
  • Decide if usage is Anonymous or Trackable by username.
  • Enter the Website URL where the mentor will live.
  • Generate Token for integration.

Optional Toggles:

  • Context Aware – allows the mentor to read page content.

  • Safety Disclaimer – add a notice for users.

  • Open by Default – choose whether the chat widget starts open or closed.

  • Icon – pick the launcher icon.

  • Click Create Embed to receive the code snippet you can place on any site or LMS.


The mentor is now fully configured and ready for learners or administrators, depending on the visibility you chose.
